We’re upgrading all Linodes to 8 cores! Right now. As in all you need to do is reboot to double the computing power of your Linode.
Doesn't matter, CPU is never the bottle neck. There upgrades are meaningless for most people. Plus the users on same host-machine have to share CPU anyway. This isn't a real upgrade unless Linode reduce the number of users per host-machine.
The only meaningful upgrades for VPS are memory and SSD. Linode isn't going to upgrade to SSD. So if it doesn't give you more memory, it doesn't count an upgrade.
How do I get my fair share of CPU? We limit the number of Linodes placed on each host machine. We also only place one plan type on each host. In the worst-case scenario, you're splitting CPU time evenly with your fellow Linoders, but are still able to use the full potential of the host if others are idle. How many Linodes share a host? Linodes of the same plan are grouped together onto a host. We adjust the number of slots on each host according to its resources and hardware specification. On average, a Linode 512 host has 40 Linodes on it. A Linode 1024 host has on average 20. Linode 2048 host: 10 Linodes; Linode 4096 host: 5;
dedicated server is so expensive to our,and also we don't need such huge calculation resource at all,we can't ask a company to give us a good vps with low price. most of other vps will sell a lot of vps in one physical machine,they won't tell you how many vps in one physical machine,but linode tell you and i trust linode. becuase i can feel it, i try a lot of other cheap vps,like burst.net,it's only need $9 per month.
